DesignEvo: Logo Craft Box with Many Templates

DesignEvo: Logo Craft Box with Many Templates

Create a beautiful logo quickly: DesignEvo makes it possible.

DesignEvo is an online application for creating logos. The graphics software works browser-based. Say: The user interface of the program is provided directly on the provider’s website www.designevo.com. It must be an active Internet connection. Depending on which browser is used, it comes to smaller bugs – but more about it.

First, let’s take a look at the main features of DesignEvo: There are two options to create your own logo. Either you choose one of the countless templates and adjust the given design according to your own wishes. Or you can design a logo from scratch.

Logo designs for every area

For the first procedure, we recommend a search in the various categories with logo examples. Whether business and finance, art and entertainment, fashion and beauty, food and drinks, technology and communication or lifestyle: DesignEvo offers suitable suggestions for almost every area and every topic. The logos can be edited and changed in terms of symbolism, text, form and background.

The editor for it explains itself and is intuitive to use. This makes it easy to put together your own logo. An empty editor page is accessed via the “Start from scratch” or “Start From Scratch” button at the top right of the website.

Symbol search is only in English

The language setting can be changed at the bottom of the page. However, the sometimes rough German translation only applies to essential terms and descriptions within the user interface. The search in a pool of symbols that can be used for logo design requires the input of English words.

That’s a bit of a pity because that’s exactly where DesignEvo’s high strength lies: the selection of so-called icons proves to be huge and there are many hits for almost every meaningful keyword. For lettering, the application also provides a sufficiently large number of fonts available. An option to import and use more fonts, however, is missing. Also own graphics can not be used for logo design.

But DesignEvo is not necessarily aimed at particularly creative users who want to design a very unique, individual logo. It is more about achieving a useful result as quickly as possible and without great effort.

Free version with restrictions

This works in a limited form and after a non-binding registration by e-mail even for free: The free version of DesignEvo, however, greatly restricts the resolution of the created logos and the editing and download options. Anyone planning to use their design professionally can not avoid a paid version of the design tool.

The basic version for a single $ 29.99 allows a resolution of up to 5000 px and comes with no editing and download restrictions. The logo can be downloaded in print quality in the formats JPG and PNG (also transparent). The logos as freely scalable vector graphics (formats: PDF, SVG) are available only in the Plus version of DesignEvo for a one-time $ 49.99.

Free version with restrictions

This also includes a download option for the fonts used. In addition, you acquire the full copyright for all used graphics and fonts. This makes sense if the logo is to be used for business purposes. Users who opt for the paid versions are eligible to receive technical support from DesignEvo if they have any questions or problems.

Two unsightly mistakes

This should be pointed out at this point on two ugly mistakes that we noticed during testing: First, the pop-up with the obligatory cookie hint did not click away in Chrome and hung so disturbing in the editor’s view at the bottom of the page. In Firefox, the note could be closed, but the logo download did not work here. This starts but then does not progress. Via Chrome it worked.

To circumvent such browser bugs, at least iOS users can access a desktop version of DesignEvo. This costs extra. Also for Windows, the software should be available soon. The app versions for iOS and Android remain a nice gimmick. A logo can be arranged much better in detail on the big screen.

Conclusion: huge icon pool convinced

Just because of the many freely available icons worth the equivalent of around 34 euros for the plus version of DesignEvo. Semi-professional web designers, who often need a quick logo for new projects or designs, are well-advised to use the application.

If it’s all about the unique design of a company logo, you better hand the job over to a graphic designer. Or you invest in a full-fledged graphics program, which is not limited to the logo design.
