Suzuki Jimny 2023: with 5 doors, Eco label and a good price

Autofun Philippines – With each passing day, we get a little closer to the launch of the long-awaited Suzuki Jimny 5-door. Moreover, according to repeated rumors, the end of 2022 should be the date chosen for the launch of a long version of the inexpensive SUV (will it be called the Jimny Long?), becoming an exclusive model in the market.

The fact is that the development of the car seems to be in the final stages. In fact, many times we see it camouflaged with the participation of Suzuki engineers. We even dared to prepare an exclusive render, illustrating the post. Suzuki Jimny 5 doors: a real SUV.

What do we expect from the new five-door Suzuki Jimny? In spite of its price (you can click Jimny Price Philippines if you would like to have a rough knowledge of it.) Well, nothing more or less a long-wheelbase version of the last generation of Jimny, a model that has so far only been available with a three-door body (the change when the Jimny Pro arrived was a four-to-two-place segment).

In addition, with the introduction of this larger version, a typical mid-life commercial redesign is not expected, so the exterior design will be quite true to the current lines. By the way, it is one of the features that has made its popularity grow, let’s not forget.

Obviously, the place where the changes are expected is in the profile view. After all, the inclusion of two rear doors, which will retain a rather square shape, will allow the inclusion of a third-party window.

This growth and longer wheelbase also translate to the cabin, with more legroom for rear-seat occupants and a slightly larger trunk than on the old three-door travel version. And when we say something bigger, it means we expect it to be quite small.

An SUV with the Eco label?

Moving on to the mechanical side, we expect the five-door Suzuki Jimny to debut an electrified (and possibly turbocharged) engine, which will open the door to being marketed again as a touring car.

What we don’t know is if, if needed, the Pro version of the model (current retail version) will ditch the naturally aspirated 1.5 for just over 100bhp. What’s clear to us is that all Jimny models will retain a pure off-road setup, with all-wheel drive and downshifting. This is ultimately one of the strong points of the model.

Now we still have to wait a few more months to see the five-door Jimny. In terms of price, compared with the corresponding three-door version, our colleagues in Italy say that is about 2,000 euros higher. Although this information is yet to be confirmed, of course.
