Don’t Breathe

A group of teens breaks into a blind man’s house in an attempt to burglarize it. Of course, they are unaware that he is not as helpless as he appears. The blind man turns out to be a former bank robber who plans on taking them hostage until they return his life savings. Don’t Breathe is one of many horror movies coming out of Colombia, making it a unique addition for fans and those new to horror films alike.

It Follows

This movie is an absolute classic. It’s a great watch for both fans of horror and those who are just looking for a good scare. The story follows a teenage girl who is followed by something, but she doesn’t know what it is or why it’s following her. Everyone around her thinks she needs help, but she really wants to get rid of whatever is following her. What happens when she sleeps with someone new? What will happen when they find out about her stalker? Watch It Follows to find out!

Get Out

Though it came out in 2017, Get Out is considered one of (if not THE) best horror films in recent years. Jordan Peele wrote and directed Get Out, and with a 99% Rotten Tomatoes score and over $250 million in box office sales, it’s not hard to see why. If you’re into horror movies or just want something that will get your adrenaline pumping through the roof, check out Get Out!

Hereditary

The best horror movies find a way of creeping into your mind and staying there, long after you’ve left theaters. We recently had a chance to check out Hereditary—the new film from A24—and it’s something special. The 2018 horror masterpiece from Ari Aster tells a tale of deep-seated family issues that come alive in ways you’d never expect. (You won’t be able to unsee it either.) Toni Collette, Gabriel Byrne, Alex Wolff and Milly Shapiro deliver standout performances. Prepare yourself for a roller coaster ride of emotions—and maybe even a nightmare or two.

A Quiet Place

In theaters now, A Quiet Place is packed with action and thrills. It’s a terrifying film that will keep you up all night. Our protagonist, Lee Abbott (played by John Krasinski), is a father trying desperately to keep his family alive as they hide from creatures that can hunt them down solely by sound. There are plenty of jump-scares in A Quiet Place, but it also has some pretty scary moments when there are no loud noises—the calm before the storm. The movie is one of those edge-of-your-seat thrillers that has your heart racing throughout its entirety. If you’re looking for a good scare, then check out A Quiet Place on Netflix or in theaters near you!

Insidious

This film revolves around a family that begins to experience a series of paranormal episodes after moving into their new home. It’s certainly not for everyone, but horror fans should appreciate director James Wan’s take on true horror. If you thought nothing could be more frightening than your mother-in-law telling you about her sleep apnea, you might want to think again.
